Wooree Lighting Opens New Factory in China
March 8, 2012 - 4:56pm

Wooree Lighting celebrated the grand opening of its new factory in Yangzhou, China, on April 19. The Korean company will use the 900,000-square-foot complex to produce LED packages and products for the KolourOne brand, which is a partnership between Wooree and Satco Products.

Brian Brandes, Satco’s Vice President of Product Development, says the actual LED chips will still be made in Wooree’s Korean factory, but everything else will be done in the new Chinese facility.

“In order to set up production in a cost effective way to service all of our LED products, we needed to be in China,” Brandes says. “Most of the components used to make those products are made in China, so strategically we needed to be in that country.”

Satco’s management team, including Satco CEO and founder Herb Gildin (pictured, center), was on hand to celebrate the factory’s grand opening ceremony on April 19, which was also attended by the Yangzhou mayor and other government officials.

The new factory will give the KolourOne brand more resources and flexibility, according to Bill Gildin, Satco’s president and Herb Gildin’s son.

“Together with our Korea-based partner Wooree Lighting, we have the manufacturing expertise and capacity to roll out customizable as well as broad based LED solutions,” Bill Gildin said in a statement. “This new factory in Yangzhou, along with KolourOne’s sister factory in Korea, provide significant additional resources to further establish KolourOne as a globally recognized brand and category leader.”
