In partnership with Elec-Tech Intl. and ETi Solid State Lighting Inc., the company will offer a series of LED bulbs designed to help consumers retrofit their homes with energy-efficient light sources.

Elec-Tech Intl. Co. Ltd. (ETi), a publicly traded Chinese company, and ETi Solid State Lighting Inc., a U.S.-based, wholly owned subsidiary, at the opening of Lightfair® Intl. 2013  introduced a new line of residential LED lighting products under the familiar and trusted Whirlpool® brand name.

The initial product offering for Whirlpool LED Lighting consists of two series of LED bulbs designed to help consumers retrofit their homes with attractive, energy-efficient LED light sources, replacing conventional incandescent and compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs. The first line, the design of which is inspired by the distinctive look of the Whirlpool Ice Kitchen Collection, includes A19, BR and PAR bulbs with traditional E26 bases, as well as both MR16 GU5.3 and MR16 GU10 spot lights. Decorative shapes, in the form of G25 globes and candelabra bulbs, round out the line. This design is UL-approved, performs to Department of Energy standards, and is backed by a five-year warranty.

The second group of products offered within the initial Whirlpool LED Lighting portfolio is a group of extra-long life LED bulbs featuring a more heavy-duty look and feel. The A19, BR, PAR, MR16 GU5.3 and MR16 GU10 bulbs as well as 4-inch and 6-inch recessed downlights, both with and without gimbal trim, are ENERGY STAR®-rated and feature a six-year warranty.

Earlier this year, Whirlpool and ETi announced a multiple year licensing agreement giving Elec-Tech the rights to manufacture, market, distribute and sell Whirlpool branded LED lighting products to the retail marketplace in the United States and Canada

“ETi’s commitment and expertise in the area of LED lighting will further enhance our relationship with consumers as a trusted source of intuitive and innovative home products designed to simplify people’s lives.” says Toni Sdao, Whirlpool’s Director of Licensing, North America Region. “We are confident that our relationship with Elec-Tech will optimize mutual product development opportunities at a time when the LED lighting market is just emerging in North America.”

“The addition of the well-known and respected Whirlpool brand to our LED lighting portfolio, alongside the AEG and ETi brands, has rounded out ETi’s global branding and marketing roadmap, providing an unparalleled platform for the successful introduction of our LED lighting products around the world,” says Eva Chan, CEO of ETi Solid State Lighting Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors of Elec-Tech Intl. Co. Ltd.
