Three Students Win Lighting Design Competition
March 30, 2012 - 4:29pm

Students Jennie Maneri, Austin Doten and Robert Volek of New York City’s Pratt Institute of Design took top honors at the first-ever George Kovacs lighting competition.

The contest, hosted by the New York Design Center, The Minka Group and Kovacs-Wesner Design Group, showcased modern concepts from the next generation of lighting designers, while honoring the legacy of designer George Kovacs, who died last year.

Three winners were chosen from 30 finalists, whose work was on display at the David E. Harden Conference Center in the New York Design Center. Contestants were tasked with creating energy-efficient lighting products that also addressed concerns about green manufacturing.
