March 7, 2012 - 3:55pm

For the third year in a row, Sea Gull Lighting has been one of a handful of companies to receive the ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.

Each year, the EPA and the DOE hand out awards to about 20 companies out of the more than 12,000 that participate in the ENERGY STAR program, honoring them for their continued commitment to producing innovative, energy-efficient products.
Kathleen Hogan, Director of the Climate Protection Partnerships Division at the EPA, said Sea Gull Lighting made the cut again this year because they continue to expand their offerings of energy saving lighting products.

“The company’s leadership on energy efficiency has yielded impressive results for their bottom line and our global environment, showing us all what can be accomplished through sustain commitment and action,” Hogan said.

Other companies that are recognized in the Sustained Excellence Award program include everything from large, multi-national consumer products manufacturers to retail chains, food companies and more.

Last year, for example, Sea Gull Lighting was the only lighting fixture manufacturer recognized among the 28 honorees. Other companies that were highlighted included PepsiCo, Whirlpool, Marriott International and Merck, to name a few.
The final list of this year’s winners won’t be announced until March 31, when the awards will be officially presented during a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Sea Gull Lighting, based in Riverside, NJ, has long been a proponent of developing lighting products that reduce energy use. The company was a charter member of the ENERGY STAR program when it was launched in 1992, and today, Sea Gull Lighting manufacturers more than 500 lighting fixtures and ceiling fans that meet the ENERGY STAR requirements.
Most recently, the company has been developing light fixtures that can work with LED lights and can be used in residential, commercial and architectural applications.

Ace Rosenstein, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development at Sea Gull Lighting, said the company’s leaders are gratified to be recognized again.
“We are extremely proud of this recognition since we believe so deeply in the ideals of the ENERGY STAR program and the many benefits it provides to the environment as well as businesses and home owners,” Rosenstein said. “Sea Gull Lighting has a been a loyal ENERGY STAR partner for nearly 20 years and remains dedicated to its goals and the betterment of the planet through the increasing development and proliferation of energy-efficient lighting.”
