Residential Lighting magazine, in partnership with sister publication Building Design+Construction (BDC), recently launched LED University (, an online portal offering accredited education opportunities to help lighting, design, housing, remodeling and architectural professionals stay current with the latest in solid-state lighting technologies.

LED University is an online campus on the BDC University site. LED University offers white papers, videos and complimentary webinars that earn AIA CES, IDCEC, NKBA and NARI Learning Units for attendees.

The April 24 webinar, LED Lighting 101: ABCs of LED Lighting, featured Joseph A. Rey-Barreau, AIA, an Associate Professor with tenure at the University of Kentucky College of Design, who has led more than 500 continuing education programs on lighting. Available on demand, the webinar set SGC/SGC Horizon records for unique registrants (2,500) and unique live viewers (1,485).

"Our goal is to be the preeminent resource for information on LED lighting," says SGC/SGC Horizon Vice President of Events Harry Urban. "The attendance at our first webinar for LED University demonstrated the thirst for information that exists for this rapidly evolving technology."

There are three more accredited webinars scheduled in this series: LED Lighting 102: Innovations and Development Update on June 26; LED Lighting 103: Residential Design and Applications on August 18; and LED Lighting 104: Commercial and Institutional Design and Applications on October 30.
