Residential Lighting magazine will host the latest in a series of webinars on green lighting with speaker Joe Rey-Barreau, AIA, on May 15. The webinar, titled “Energy Efficient Lighting Design for Kitchens and Baths,” is sponsored by Access Lighting and Edge Lighting.
The webinar will cover new energy efficient lighting options for the kitchen and bath, as well as energy codes and legislation that affect lighting approaches for those rooms.
“The reality is that today we can provide task, ambient and accent lighting in using technologies that offer all of the positive benefits of incandescent lighting, but with the additional benefits of much higher energy efficiency and longer life,” Rey-Barreau says. “Coupled with these new lighting options, many states are now adopting energy codes that create opportunities for providing more energy-efficient kitchen and bath lighting solutions.”
Industry organizations like the National Kitchen and Bath Assn. (NKBA) also recognize the importance of new lighting technology.
“Earlier this year, the NKBA cited LED lighting as one of its top trends for kitchens in 2012,” says Residential Lighting Publisher and Editorial Director Laura Van Zeyl. “Lighting design for kitchens and baths continues to evolve and we're proud to work with a professional like Joe Rey-Barreau to educate our readers about the latest options available.”
Rey-Barreau is one of the most recognized lighting experts in the United States and has presented over 500 continuing education programs over the past two decades. An architect and lighting designer with over 25 years of experience as a design professional, Rey-Barreau has worked on over 1,000 projects as either the principal lighting designer or architect, including residential projects, offices, government buildings, stores, industrial, warehouse, educational and health care facilities. He is also an Associate Professor with tenure in the College of Design at the University of Kentucky and has served as the Director of Education for the American Lighting Association since 1995.
The webinar will be presented live on May 15, 2012, from 2 to 3 p.m. EST and will be available afterwards for on-demand viewing. Participant can also earn CEU credits, including AIA/CES LU (HSW 1.0 learning unit), IDCEC (IIDA/ASID/IDC 0.1 CEU), NKBA (0.1 CEU, self-reporting) and NARI (0.1 CEU). The registration fee is $49.
