More than 600 people attended the 25th Annual ARTS Awards, which took place on Jan. 18, 2014, at the Hilton Anatole hotel during the Dallas Intl. Lighting Market. The awards were sponsored by ART - The Creative Home Furnishings Network, and the Dallas Market Center,

In the Lighting Fixture category, Visual Comfort & Co. won for the second year in a row, and Jamie Young Co. took home the top prize for Portable Lamps. Lighting was also represented in several other categories: Norburn Lighting of Vancouver, BC, won the International Retailer category, reps Chas Lassoff and Doug Glassman won in their regions and Phillips Collection’s Mandy Shanahan, who has designed several great lamps for the company, was honored as Product Designer of the Year.

The Academy of Achievement award was presented to the founders of ART — Gil Bailie, Eric Bauer, Ralph Chancey, Henry Goldman and Harvey Hollingsworth. Hollingsworth founded The Natural Light in 1978 and Bauer headed up Bauer Lamp before becoming a marketing guru.

Emporium Home of Little Rock, AR, received the Rising Star Award, which recognizes innovation and modern excellence demonstrated by a company that has been in business less than three years, selected by a panel of industry peers. Although Emporium Home is not exclusively lighting, the pieces it does offer are exquisite.

ARTS Awards presenters included Fine Art Lamps owner and ARTS Awards Hall of Fame Member Max Blumberg; Uttermost President and CEO and 24th annual ARTS Awards Academy of Achievement award recipient, Mac Cooper; Designer and 11th annual ARTS Awards Academy of Achievement award recipient, Carolyn Kinder; and industry veteran and 13th annual ARTS Awards Academy of Achievement award recipient, Sy Mayerson. Mike Mullins, event producer for the Santa Fe International Folk Market and a previous producer of ARTS Awards, acted as master of ceremonies.
