Leviton Employees Donate Big to Local Food Banks

As part of its national East vs. West Food Drive, the company collected more than five tons of food.

Leviton employees donated more than five tons — or 10,700 pounds — of non-perishable food items to local food banks as part of the company’s national East vs. West Food Drive. In addition to the food donations, Leviton is also making a corporate monetary donation to a local food bank as a way to lend additional assistance to the cause.

Employees from 12 of Leviton’s facilities across the United States — Melville, NY; Bothell, WA; Tualatin, OR; St. Charles, IL; Chula Vista, CA; Spanish Springs, NV; El Paso, TX; Itasca, IL; Long Beach, CA; West Jefferson, NC; Morganton, NC; Lebanon, TN; and Marietta, GA — worked together to collect the food at each location and will donate it directly to the local food shelters of choice.

“Leviton is a community-minded organization, always looking for unique ways to give back to the vast number of local communities that have always helped support us,” says Fran Ruderman, Leviton’s Vice President of Human Resources. “Leviton employees have once again stepped up to help further our corporate commitment to give back and support our local communities by collecting more than five tons of food in an effort to fight hunger in their areas.”

Leviton’s East vs. West National Food Drive was developed from employees in Bothell, WA, who had been conducting local food drives. Once the drive was expanded nationally, the competition aspect encouraged participation among all employees.
