International Market Centers (IMC), the new company behind High Point and Las Vegas Markets, recently announced four new vice presidents as the two markets continue to merge into one. This reorganization also resulted in eight people being laid off last month as IMC continues to integrate staff from both markets.
"With the integration of the four previous companies into one, there is a degree of reorganization that must occur in our new IMC operations,” IMC said in a statement. “Part of this process will result in some personnel changes with both reductions and additions to the organization. We respect and appreciate the contributions of the affected individuals, and are committed to providing tools to help them with their career transition.”
Two of the new vice presidents are charged with handling home furnishings leasing. Julie Messner and Craig Staack are now Vice Presidents of Business Development, with Messner handling home furnishings leasing in High Point and Staack will do the same in Las Vegas. Messner has served as Vice President of Publication Sales for High Point’s International Home Furnishings Center since 2008, and prior to that handled leasing for temporary showrooms in Merchandise Mart Properties Inc.’s (MMPI) Suites at Market Square and the Plaza Suites Buildings. Staack, a senior level furniture executive with 30 years of experience and former owner of three Las Vegas furniture stores, joined World Market Center’s leasing team in 2009. Both Messner and Staack report to Tom Mitchell, IMC’s President of Home Furnishings.
IMC has also named Lee Hershberg as the new Vice President of Home Décor. Hershberg has been IHFC’s Vice President of Accessory Leasing since 2008, and prior to that served as Show Director for the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) for Nielsen Business Media.
Margaret Powers has also been named the Vice President of Tradeshow/Las Vegas, and will oversee Las Vegas Market’s Temporaries Division. A 20-year gift industry veteran, Powers handled exhibitor sales for MMPI before joining World Market Center in 2008 as Director of Business Development. Both Hershberg and Powers will report to IMC’s interim President of Gift+Home Georgia Davis.
