Canada: Style Preferences

Canada’s culture has historically been influenced by Europe, especially France and Great Britain, and this is still felt today in home décor choices. In general, Canadian style (especially in the eastern provinces) can best be described as contemporary or modern with clean styling.  

“Transitional for us was five years ago and now it’s big in the U.S., so we’re always ahead a few years,” says Catherine Patry, Director of Sales at Multi Luminaire Group, Montreal. ”But I hear from my suppliers that this is different in British Columbia or Alberta where they usually follow U.S. trends more and are more traditional.”
