Manufacturers rep Alan Colker will host a seminar on new lighting technologies with lighting expert Joe Rey-Barreau on May 21 in Virginia. This will be the 31st American Lighting Assn.-accredited seminar that Colker has hosted.

Colker, who along with his son Mitch form Alco Lighting Sales, will sponsor the event, along with Satco Products and House of Troy. In this one-day seminar, Rey-Barreau, who is ALA’s Director of Education, will focus on how to light an entire 3,000-square-foot home, including landscape lighting, using only CFL, LED and organic LED (OLED) lighting.

“We have people come from all experience levels, and Joe does a great job of presenting the information so that people at all levels understand it and come away with something,” Colker says.

During the workshop, Rey-Barreau will cover new CFL and LED lamps and fixtures, including those that have achieved Energy Star® certification, as well as new developments in OLED technology. He will also explain how best to use these new technologies, taking into effect things like spacing and color temperature. Rey-Barreau will also address how these new energy-efficient technologies can help meet criteria for the National Assn. of Home Builders' Green Building Standard and American Society of Interior Designers' ReGreen program.

Sponsorships from Satco Products and House of Troy have allowed Colker to lower the price of the seminar to $100 from the normal $130. The seminar will take place May 21 at the Hyatt Place Richmond Innsbrook in Glen Allen, VA. To register, contact Alan Colker at (804) 747-1230 or [email protected] by May 4.
