25th ARTS Awards Ballot Open
June 17, 2013 - 8:35am
Nominations will be accepted until July 31, 2013, and winners will be announced in January 2014 at the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market.

The 25th Annual ARTS Award Ballot is now open, and will close July 31, 2013.

The ARTS Awards is a peer-nominated program presented by ART — The Creative Home Furnishings Network in partnernship with the Dallas Market Center (DMC). Ballots are submitted online and anyone in the home accents industry can participate. Nominees and finalists are not required to exhibit in Dallas or belong to ART.

Finalists are announced in August and submissions for judging are due in November. The presentation submissions are 100-percent digital. The judges independently review and score each submission on criteria established by the ARTS Awards committee.

The five judges represent various industry backgrounds and a sixth judge representing the Sustainable Furnishings Council reviews the manufacturer presentations to determine the Green Award winner. The scores are tallied and the winners in each category and the annual Academy of Achievement will be announced in January 2014 during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market.

“We look forward to celebrating the best in the industry during the 25th annual ARTS Awards this January,” says Cindy Morris, DMC COO. “This year we’ve added a new, regional retail category – Outdoor Lifestyle Store. This growing niche has excellent stores throughout the country that we are excited to honor.”

Beyond this new addition, which will support pool and patio, outdoor living, and garden center retailers, the 25th ARTS Awards will be different in another big way according to DMC's Director of Marketing Lindsey Villarreal. Rising Star will no longer be a judged category. Instead, the ARTS Awards committee will determine one honoree based off submitted nominations (versus three to five finalists required to submit materials for judging).

“As you know, opening a new (and successful) business in our industry these days is challenging,” Villarreal says. “This change will allow for proper recognition of the winning manufacturer or retailer.”
