CEO Steve Sheinkopf says he decided on this alternative way to celebrate because people are “too smart” for sale-oriented stuff nowadays. “Pinterest allows people to interact with our brand, especially the new displays, showroom tours and visual ideas,” Sheinkopf explains. “Our expectation from this contest is better engagement with potential customers.”
The treasure hunt works as follows: visit Yale Appliance on Pinterest, and from April 1-April 19, browse through the pinboards, find the image that doesn’t match the board’s theme, and jot down the code in the photo’s description. There will be one image to find each week.
Visit Yale’s blog and submit the code word, then wait to see if you’ve won. A winner will be chosen at random from all of the correct entries received during each of the first three weeks in April and awarded with a $250 gift card.
From April 22-26, the contest will get tougher. Participants will need to find the code word in a photo description on one of Yale’s biggest pinboards, and the winner will receive a $500 gift card.
