World's Largest Residential LED Retrofit Neighborhood to be 'Turned On'
One hundred and sixty-four new homes in the Knox Hills community will be fitted with 9,500 Borealis LED bulbs.

On Sept. 5, 2012, Knox Hills, a community for service members, and the city of Fort Knox, KY, will "turn on" the largest residential LED retrofit neighborhood in the world.
More than 9,500 Borealis bulbs will be installed in 164 new homes in the Oak Park Area 17 neighborhood of the Fort Knox area. The project team went through four rounds of custom LED bulb prototypes and the retrofit took one and a half years to complete.
When the LEDs are turned on, they are expected to save the community $34,000 in energy costs per year.
