Officials with International Market Centers announced the adjustment of the Winter 2014 Las Vegas Market dates to take place Sunday, Jan. 26 through Thursday, Jan. 30.
“After careful consideration of the feedback we received from buyers and exhibitors as to the best way to deliver a truly exceptional Las Vegas Market experience, we are adjusting the Market dates to comprise a weekend day while ending on a Thursday to accommodate optimal Friday return travel,” says President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Maricich.
In addition, the selected Market week continues to overlap with SURFACES, the floor coverings industry’s leading event.
Earlier this year, the National Association of Home Builders and the National Kitchen & Bath Assn. announced an agreement to co-locate the International Builders' Show and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas beginning in February 2014, forming Design and Construction Week.
Although the 2014 Las Vegas Winter Market dates will not coincide with Design and Construction Week 2014, Dana Andrew, Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications for World Market Center Las Vegas, said back in January that in later years, the dates coincide historically with when the Las Vegas Market is held and therefore the two events may have some synergies.
“A concept that brings more buyers together is certainly worth further consideration,” she says. “We have been running highly successful Las Vegas Markets in late January/early February for seven consecutive years. Consequently, another high-profile industry event could be additive to what is already a powerhouse period in Las Vegas for the furnishings and design industry. This new event may also yield some benefits for our Las Vegas Design Center.”
Andrew also said that overall though, market dates are planned to optimize opportunities for buyers and sellers, which may mean avoiding significant overlap with established home furnishings and gift shows.
