With its focus on business matters, networking and hospitality, Lighting One’s concentrated presence during the January Dallas Market helped infuse the show with renewed energy.
Owned by CCA Global Partners and headquartered in St. Louis, Lighting One is a co-op of home furnishings member showrooms that specialize in lighting fixtures.
Despite initial concerns about cost due to the economy, the group’s executive team decided to hold its annual meeting with members during the market, scheduling individual meetings with each of the group’s suppliers. Kichler hosted a special breakfast meeting for members on Jan. 13, the day before the show kicked off, and close to 60 members gathered in a World Trade Center meeting room later that afternoon to discuss annual business matters and exchanging ideas with peers. David Kraeling, President of New Business Groups for CCA, was also introduced.
Thursday morning brought an even larger crowd, as members lined out of the doors of the Quoizel showroom for breakfast appointments.
A major topic of conversation during the Wednesday afternoon meeting was the launch of the new incentive program, named the Power of Purchasing (POP). For the fiscal year ending in September 2010, Lighting One members will realize reduced rates on their membership fees in line with their purchases from Lighting One suppliers. Members can also earn additional financial incentives with increases in purchases to Lighting One suppliers over the prior fiscal year. Members of all sizes are able to participate in this program with no limits on the additional funding they may earn.
Lighting One says the goal is not to demand its members to purchase more, but to simply shift their current purchasing — where possible — to support aligned suppliers. To keep momentum going, the member with the highest growth from the same month the prior year is awarded $299. At the end of the fiscal year, the member with the highest overall growth will be awarded $2,500 in addition to the plan’s incentives. Top members are recognized in membership-wide announcements.
