Robert B. Currey, founder of Storehouse and Currey & Co., was presented with the ICON Honor for Individual Career Achievement at the Atlanta Marriot Marquis on July 11. The award was presented by Jeff Portman, President and COO of AmericasMart. ICON HONORS celebrate the legacy of creative expression, champions the genius of independent business, and applauds the triumph of superior achievement in the home furnishings and gift industry.

Currey is a long-time innovator in the home furnishings industry. Over the years, his reputation has grown from being a merchant to a designer and manufacturer of distinctive furnishings for the home.

In 1969 he started his own retail home furnishings company, Storehouse. When he left the company in 1982, it had grown to 28 stores. Currey spent the '80s consulting within the furniture industry and running the U.S. sales organization of an Italian garden furniture manufacturer. A product development job and a retail venture led to his current business, Currey & Co.

Currey presently spends his time as a gentleman farmer (organic) in Sparta, GA, with his equally talented wife, Suzanne Currey.
