Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Lighting Research Center has enhanced its outreach by adding a LED Lighting Institute seminar to its educational programming. The first LED Lighting Institute will be held March 17-18 at the Cree corporate headquarters in Durham, NC. The two-day program will provide detailed instruction for lighting fixture designers and manufacturers, lighting specifiers and other affiliated professionals.
Through hands-on workshops and classroom sessions, participants will learn the basics of solid-state technology, while building an understanding of system integration issues involving the optical and thermal characteristics of LEDs. Participants also learn how to measure and evaluate LEDs and LED systems, and have the opportunity to compare solid-state technologies from a variety of manufacturers. The program will culminate with a chance for the participants to design, build and evaluate their own fixtures.
Upon completion of the course, participants will earn three continuing education units, as well as a Continuing Education Certificate in LED lighting technology.
