Manufacturers’ representative Richard Sanders died Oct. 21, 2010, after working in the industry for nearly four decades. He was 70 years old.
Sanders’ son Shawn, who worked with him at Sanders and Assoc. in Mentor, OH, says his father loved the lighting business and was one of the original members of National Assn. of Lighting Representatives (NALR) before joining the American Lighting Assn. Since starting out in 1970, he represented a multitude of lines, and was known for his charismatic personality.
“He was always charming and always had a story to tell, usually a good joke,” Shawn Sanders says. “He was very witty and always had a kind word for everybody.”
Shawn Sanders also says that, in his limited spare time, his father enjoyed reading, golfing, square dancing and working on his computer.
In addition to his son, Shawn, Richard Sanders is also survived by his wife, Sheila, and two grandchildren. For those seeking to honor Sanders' memory with a gesture, the family recommends donations to the The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
