At 66,000 square feet, the two-story showroom has ample room to provide selection at every price point without sacrificing breadth of product offering.
Whether they prefer traditional styling or a look that is ultra-contemporary, builders, architects, designers and homeowners will find it at this showroom. The store is organized in sections by style and finish to make the selection process easier. Good/better/best price points accommodate budgets large and small. Lighting vignettes feature complementary portable lighting and accessories to make shopping fun and easy. Special “Gallery” items are on display throughout the showroom. Each is a unique, high-end piece that contributes to the store’s “wow factor” and makes browsing more fun.
Employees are encouraged to specialize in different niche areas of lighting so they can become experts, who in turn can train fellow employees. Several staff members have college degrees or are studying interior architecture and design. Three new ALA Lighting Specialists were certified last year, and another four employees are about to take the exam.
Several years ago, the company formed a lighting task force that is involved in everything from selecting new products to advertising and marketing. The task force’s decision to transform the company’s trucks into mobile billboards has generated traffic for the store. Even when the trucks are parked, the snazzy graphic panels are hard at work creating a buzz for Northwest Electrical Supply.
