Founder of third-generation lighting store Lighting Etc. Robert M. Cooper Sr., known as “Paw-Paw,” passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, in North Richland Hills, TX.
Cooper and his wife, Norma, opened their own lighting showroom in 1980. Lighting & Decorating was a small 1,500-square-foot store with a goal to provide builders, designers and homeowners in Tarrant County, TX, with custom lighting and fan options to meet all budgets and design needs. After opening a second location in 1989, and then merging them four years later to improve logistics, Lighting Etc. was born. Cooper especially enjoyed the custom home building segment of the business and focused on this until his retirement. The third generation of the Cooper family now runs Lighting Etc.
“Until the day he died Paw-Paw loved coming into the showroom to see all the new fixtures and designs, and was always amazed at what his little business had turned into,” says Denise Duncan, General Manager.
Cooper is survived by his wife Norma; sons, Robert M. Cooper Jr., Stephen R. Cooper Sr.; grandchildren, Stephen Cooper Jr., Bryan Cooper, Forrest Cooper, Jennifer Cooper Jung and Rebecca Cooper; and great-grandson, Gage Cooper.
