ALA’s Pillar of the Industry Awards recognize sales representatives, showrooms and manufacturers for their work to advance the industry and the association during the previous 18 months.
David R. Turner and Dave Gatto were nominated and selected because of the leading role they took in rewriting the Department of Energy’s 75 rules affecting the ceiling fan industry . This was no small task and took hundreds of hours of research.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us,” Turner said in his acceptance speech, “but I’m ready to keep researching and tackling the issue head on.”
David Shiller has served as the co-chair of the ALA Engineering Committee, and was an attendee of both the 2012 Washington, D.C. mission and the ALA-EPA Workshop for LED requirements. He also stopped a fixture light-output test for LED fixtures. In his acceptance speech, Shiller stressed the importance of LED education.
“There’s a price to pay for staying ahead of your customers, but there’s a bigger price to pay for falling behind."
