Residential Lighting has been serving the lighting showroom market for 20 years — the only consistent monthly print publication in the industry and the only audited magazine for residential lighting, with a circulation of more than 10,000. It was founded in December 1992 by Vance Publishing Corp. and acquired in April 2009 by Scranton Gillette Communications [1].
Residential Lighting's April 2011 [2] issue recently won a min Editorial & Design Award for Best Single Issue of a Magazine [3]. This national competition honors both trade and consumer publications. The brand is also greatly appreciated in its own market — survey data proves that it continues to be the most read, most useful and most preferred publication in the marketplace.
In addition to its magazine and website, Residential Lighting offers three e-newsletters: news-driven eWire, product-focused Marketplace and the how-to Ask Randall newsletter featuring popular columnist and lighting designer Randall Whitehead [4], IALD. Residential Lighting also connects with readers through a robust Twitter [5] feed, a YouTube [6] channel, pages on Facebook [7], Pinterest [8] and Google+ [9], and a Linked In [10] group.
Residential Lighting has a controlled circulation of trade professionals who qualify for free subscriptions [11]. In addition to this circulation, the magazine is distributed at major industry trade events at the Dallas Market Center [12], High Point Market [13], Las Vegas Market [14] and Lightfair [15]. Video coverage of these events can be found on Residential Lighting's Plugged In [16] channel as well as YouTube.
Two awards programs are part of the Residential Lighting brand: the Showroom of the Year Awards [17], presented each June to lighting retailers in partnership with the Dallas Market Center; and the Industry Leadership Award [18], presented to an individual at the American Lighting Assn. [19] (ALA) Conference.
Residential Lighting is a proud member of ALA, ART - A Creative Home Furnishings Network [20], the Sustainable Furnishings Council [21] and the Audit Bureau of Circulations [22].
