As someone who has perfected the art of procrastination, it may seem out of character for me to say now is the time to register for this year’s American Lighting Assn. (ALA) Conference [2] in Scottsdale, AZ. I mean, the Conference is not until Sept. 9. Almost one quarter of 2012 will pass between now and then. And there are so many interesting things to look at on Pinterest [3] in the meantime …
But there are good reasons to take action now. First, you’ll save money. Register by June 30 and you’ll save $25 on each registration, plus you’ll be entered to win a $250 credit for use at the host resort, the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch [4].
Another reason is to ensure your room reservation [5] at the special rate of $172/night. Conference registration is up over the same period last year, and ALA Director of Conferences Beth Bentley has warned that this year’s Conference block will sell out. Pending availability, the room rate is good as long as your reservations are made by Aug. 17, but why risk it?
Our ALA Conference Preview [6] section from our May issue [7] highlights the many reasons that you should attend the event. But it’s all kind of intangible and theoretical until you are there, surrounded by your peers, partners and prospects in a gorgeous setting, receiving and discussing information that helps your own business and the industry at large. Trust me: It’s worth the trip. And worth taking a few minutes now to make sure you’ll be there at the most cost-effective rates.
