Gift for Life [1], a charitable organization in the gift and home décor industry that raises money to fight AIDS, recently announced that its annual Party for Life fundraiser raised a record $208,000.
“A generous industry truly delivered dramatic results as we combined fun with fundraising,” Gift for Life chairperson Leslie Nathan-Street said in a statement. “To date we have raised nearly $5 million for HIV/AIDS research and assistance through the generous help of sponsors and party attendees.”
The event, which was held on Jan. 29 at New York's Central Park Boathouse, featured a silent and live auction for a wide array of prizes. Industry leaders were also recognized for their charitable work, including Jenny Hammons, who received the Bert Tonkin Gift of Giving Award; Brandwise and its founders Todd and Jannetta Litzman, who received the Trailblazer Award; George Kacic, who received the Chuck Yancy Lifetime Achievement Award; and John C. Portman, Jr., who received the Legend for Life honor.
The money raised at the event will go to DIFFA [2] (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS), one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS service and education programs in the U.S.
