The American Lighting Assn.  (ALA) recently announced that Zia Eftekhar (pictured), CEO of Philips Professional Luminaires North America  and a 40-year veteran of the lighting industry, will be inducted into the Lighting Hall of Fame during the annual conference banquet on Sept. 13.
ALA President and CEO Dick Upton says Eftekhar is an excellent executive who is also universally well liked.
“I’ve been in this business a while and we’re fortunate to have a lot of fine executives in the lighting industry, but Zia is one of the best,” Upton says. “He’s intellectually bright and has the ability to think both strategically and conceptually, as well as the ability to collaborate to gain an effective outcome.”
Upton says Eftekhar has been an integral part of ALA, helping with the association’s redesign, chairing the task force behind ALA’s Bi-National Advertising Campaign, and serving as the chairman of the ALA Board of Governors.
In other personnel news, Eric Borden is now the National Sales Manager at Kichler Lighting . Borden has more than 33 years of sales, marketing and product development experience with companies like Sea Gull Lighting, Halo Lighting and Enterprise Lighting Sales. Kichler also recently hired four new sales managers: Sam Guye, Western Regional Sales Manager; Lyn Schulz, Central Regional Sales Manager; Richard Brown, National Builder Sales Manager; and Russ Klingel, National Sales Manager for Ceiling Fans.
Lunera Lighting Inc.  has two new hires: Howard Bailey is now the company’s Chief Financial Officer and Hai Dau is the new Vice President of Engineering. In addition, Peter Graf, Chief Sustainability Officer and Executive Vice President of Sustainability Solutions for global business management software leader SAP, has joined Lunera’s board of directors.
Gift for Life , a charitable organization for the gift, stationery and home décor industries, recently announced new leadership and board members. Leslie Nathan-Street, who previously served as Vice Chair, is taking over as Chairperson of the Board. She has been in the gift and home industry for over 20 years, most recently as President of the Gift and Home Channel. Stu Teller will take her place as Vice Chair. Teller is managing partner of Right Angle Strategies, a new business development services company, and has more than 30 years of experience in the gift, home décor and collegiate industries.
In addition, Gift for Life has four new board members: Dorothy Creamer, Editor-in-Chief of Greetings etc. magazine; George Kacic, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Ganz; Suzanne Pruitt, Owner of Marsh Meadows Marketing; and Sarah Schwartz, a twenty-year publishing veteran and founding editor of Stationery Trends magazine.
Residential Lighting  is also proud to announce that Shanna Casey has been promoted to Managing Editor. She had been Associate Editor for the magazine and its sister publication, Home Fashion Forecast , since July, providing engaging content for those brands' print, digital and social media. Prior to joining Residential Lighting, Casey worked for Pearson Education and holds a master’s degree in communication from the University of Illinois.
