Randy Wells, Vice President of the Las Vegas Design Center , says the executive team chose Guy because of the signature look he’s created that strikes an emotional chord with customers.
“He’s done an unbelievable job creating an aesthetic that’s unmistakably Christopher Guy,” Wells says. “He’s managed to create a look that’s unique to him, that blends high fashion and traditional craftsmanship, and at the same time, it’s timeless.”
Guy says it’s an honor to be chosen, and a tribute to the craftsmen who help create his designs, which Guy describes as contemporary mixed with classic values and an international influence.
“I was born in Britain, raised in Spain and France and now reside in Singapore and my travels have really helped me blend both Eastern and Western design philosophies and create the signature Christopher Guy look,” Guy says.
Guy recently opened two new showrooms in China, and is currently working on a new collection for fall 2011. The collection, called Mademoiselle, is Guy’s vision of what Coco Chanel’s home would look like if she were alive today.
“The collection will be classic with contemporary features and how I believe her apartment would be furnished, but set in today’s modern time,” Guy says. “It will feature very classic pieces with some minute dramatic touches here and there.”
Guy will receive his award and talk about his design outlook on Thursday,, Jan. 27, at 10:30 a.m. in Building C, Suite C176.
