The Dallas Market Center (DMC) is looking to honor retailers who are doing good in their communities with its new Next Big Give contest. Winners will receive a complimentary trip to the March 24-27, 2011, Market in Dallas.
Meredith Hite, Director of Public Relations for the DMC's parent Market Center Management Co., says the goal of the contest is to recognize retailers who are dedicated to community service.
“We know that there are great retailers out there doing great things, and we thought what a great opportunity to share with other retailers,” Hite says. “Our goal is to hear their stories and then share them with other people at the market.”
Although there are no strict guidelines for entering the contest, Hite says the focus is on smaller retailers making a difference at a local level. There are three categories for entries – volunteering, raising funds or donating goods – and retailers can nominate themselves or be nominated by customers, sales reps or manufacturers.
Applications and more information can be found at www.dallasmarketcenter.com/give , and the deadline for applications is Dec. 6, 2010. Finalists will be announced on Jan. 10, 2011, and then be evaluated by a panel of 10 industry experts and DMC representatives. The winners will be announced on Feb. 14, and they will receive a complimentary trip to the March Market, where they will be honored during the second annual The Inspired Event. In addition to airfare from anywhere in the continental United States, winners will receive three nights' hotel accommodations.
