Preview of the Dallas Market

Despite a gloomy economy, Dallas Market Center’s International Lighting Market continues to present retailers with golden opportunities for networking, trend-spotting and, most importantly, growing business. Packed with seminars, receptions and special events, this spring’s premier lighting event will take place June 19-22 throughout the now-sprawling Trade Mart and neighboring World Trade Center. Read on to get the scoop on where to be and when.

Hospitality/Contract Lighting Show

Get ready to extend your hotel reservations. Hot on the heels of the International Lighting Market, Dallas Market Center will host a new, one-day show for commercial buyers and exhibitors.

Set for June 23, the Hospitality/Contract Lighting Show is a long-awaited extension of the Dallas Market’s lighting extravaganza. Buyers will have the opportunity to browse new products geared toward building managers, architects, lighting designers and interior designers.

“Lighting continues to be one of the strongest home décor segments, and this extension of the Dallas marketplace is a natural partnership with the leading U.S. lighting manufacturers,” says Cindy Morris, Dallas Market Center’s Chief Operating Officer. “It strengthens Dallas as the largest, most comprehensive resource for lighting.”

While the new show is intended to attract new buyers to the June Dallas Market, Morris says that with 90 percent of DMC’s lighting resources participating in the event, there’s sure to be exceptional value for residential lighting professionals, as well. And if the show is as popular as the Dallas Market Center hopes, expect more big announcements in the future.

“This new show is the next step in a long-range strategy to continue to grow the international home of lighting in Dallas,” Morris says.

In an effort to drum up excitement about the event (and to remind attendees to stick around after the official close of the Dallas Market), Dallas Market Center will host a cocktail reception, Sunday, June 22, at 5 p.m. on the 4th floor of the Trade Mart expansion. The new event officially kicks off Monday morning with free coffee and doughnuts in the Trade Mart.

With the continued success of the F!NDS temporary show, DMC has expanded the exhibition’s presence in Market Hall and in the World Trade Center. The total area has increased by about 15 percent this year, according to DMC officials. Buyers can browse F!NDS booths in Market Hall and on floors 8, 12 and 13 of the World Trade Center.

LightingF!NDS, which was launched earlier this year during the January Dallas Market, returns to join HomeF!NDS in Market Hall. Expect a wide range of new exhibitors at the event, including New Power Import, Haeger Pottery, Efficient Lighting, Covenant Lighting and Sararte Lighting. DMC will host several Discovery Tours to show buyers how to make the most of the F!NDS floors.
