Paola Antonelli to Give IALD Keynote

Design visionary Paola Antonelli will deliver the keynote address at the International Assn. of Lighting Designers (IALD) Enlighten Americas conference. Antonelli’s speech on the value of lighting design will kick off the conference’s general session on Oct. 8.

Antonelli works as the Senior Curator of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and has made it her goal to promote the understanding of design and its influence on the world. She has been named one of the 25 most incisive design visionaries by TIME magazine and one of the top 100 most powerful people in the world of art by the Art Review.

Antonelli has given lectures around the world, and participated in several international architecture and design juries. She has a master’s degree in architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy, and an honorary doctorate from Kingston University in London and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She is also a senior fellow with the Royal College of Art in London.

This year’s IALD Enlighten Americas conference will focus on design, including its cultural influence, how to create it and where we can get inspiration for it. The event will take place Oct. 7-9 at the Westin Westminster in Denver. Click here for more information.
