New Company Helps Showrooms Get Online

A new company created by Ace Rosenstein, formerly of Sea Gull Lighting, is helping lighting showrooms launch customized websites that display their full product offerings. Bravo Business Media allows showrooms to access products from more than 100 manufacturers to include in their online inventory.

Rosenstein, the company’s President, says having an online presence is vital for lighting showrooms, especially in today’s economy.

“Research shows that 82 percent of consumers research home décor purchases online, yet less than 10 percent of sales occur online, so consumers want to buy locally after researching,” Rosenstein says. “Many local showrooms don’t have an Internet presence, so if we can apply a local presence to this process, it’s a win-win for everybody.”

Bravo Business Media, which operates a site called MyLightingShowroom.com for their website services, has a database of several hundred thousand products from more than 100 manufacturers that retailers can choose from. Rosenstein says showrooms can set the pricing and inventory information on their sites, as well as prioritize how products appear.

“It takes away the need for catalogs and lets stores control the purchasing process,” Rosenstein says.

Behind the scenes is a team of technical product developers with experience in e-commerce and catalogs, some of whom come from within the lighting industry. The company has also partnered with Joe Rey-Barreau, former Director of Education for the American Lighting Assn., to provide educational content for the site. Specifically, the site will offer training programs for lighting showroom employees on how to better sell lighting.
