The American Lighting Assn.’s Lighting Your Life brochure is the last (but not least) in a long line of ALA literature to be treated to a much-needed makeover.
ALA Consulting Director of Education Joe Rey-Barreau led the charge with the help of ALA Certified Lighting Consultants, updating the booklet with new information, photographs and line drawings. It has been more than 10 years since the document’s last revision.
Lighting Your Life is the ALA’s primary consumer brochure aimed at educating homeowners about the proper application of lighting, as well as urging them to purchase products from ALA member showrooms. While the ALA sends a brochure to those who respond to its national advertisements, consumers can also pick up the informational booklet in member showrooms.
Cash Prize Offered for Compliant Torchiere Technology Innovations
The American Lighting Assn. continues to lobby Congress for a technical correction bill that will extend to Oct. 1, 2007, the deadline for torchieres to comply with the requirements commanded by the Energy Act of 2005. Meanwhile, ALA Director of Technology Terry McGowan is working on an engineering fix that will prevent tochiere lamps from operating above 190W, bringing the products into compliance. So far, two technologies are on the table: a power-limiting device and a plug with fuses.
To expedite a resolution, the ALA is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who can develop an economically efficient solution.
