Lighting Products Win 2013 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award
GreenWave Reality won for its Connected Lighting Solution, and SWITCH Lighting won for its SWITCH 3-Way bulb.

Two lighting products were honored with a 2013 CES Innovations Design and Engineering award. GreenWave Reality’s Connected Lighting Solution won in the Integrated Home Systems & Multi-Room Audio-Video category, and SWITCH Lighting’s SWITCH 3-Way bulb won in the Eco-Design and Sustainable Technologies.

GreenWave Reality’s award-winning Connected Lighting Solution combines Energy-Star® certified LED bulbs with Internet connectivity to provide consumers with fully controllable, rich, warm light throughout their homes. The Connected Lighting Solution, incorporating JenNet-IP™ network layer software from NXP Semiconductors, can be used directly out of the box without any rewiring of the home or need for an electrician. By simply screwing in the bulbs, consumers can immediately begin to control their lights and operate the pre-configured “home,” “away” and “night” Smart Controls. Leveraging these highly efficient, controllable LED bulbs, consumers will use only 20 percent of the energy a traditional incandescent bulb uses. Additional savings come from being able to easily control and dim home lighting.

The SWITCH 3-Way bulb design provides the same warm, familiar glow of an incandescent, while using up to 80 percent less energy and offering the convenience of a three-way bulb. The three power settings give users control over the amount of light, ambiance, and energy used with no changes in color temperature. For the first time, users can select different levels of lighting (low, medium, and high) for different applications and moods at the flip of a switch on a table or floor lamp. The SWITCH 3-Way uses the company’s patented LQD Cooling System®, which is a blend of the company’s overall electronic design and proprietary technologies: a coolant made of liquid silicone, and a patented, highly efficient and reliable electronic driver. SWITCH is up to 40 percent more effective at diffusing heat and cooling LEDs than air-cooled bulbs.

The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Assn. (CEA). All winning products will be on display at the 2013 International CES, Jan. 8-11, 2013 in Las Vegas.
