More than 650 people attended the 24th Annual ARTS Awards on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Hilton Anatole hotel during the Dallas Intl. Lighting Market. The awards were sponsored by ART - The Creative Home Furnishings Network, and the Dallas Market Center, as well as second-time partner Swarovski Elements.

In the lighting manufacturing categories, Visual Comfort & Co. took home the award for Lighting Fixtures and Arteriors Home won for Portable Lamps. Lighting was also represented in the Sales Represenative category, with Richard Alan of Richard Alan & Assoc. winning for the Midwest/Southwest region and giving yet another memorable (and prop-filled) speech.

The Cooper family of lighting and accessory powerhouse Uttermost received the Academy of Achievement Award for the legacy it has created over the past three decades.

New this year, the Visionary Award was given to Dwell With Dignity for its contribution to help families and communities as well as its inspirational impact on the design and home industries.

Notably, all nominees in the International Retailer category were lighting showrooms from Canada; Multi Luminaire of Laval, QC, took home the top honor. In the Lighting Showroom categories, Elements, Carle Place, NY, won in the East/Atlantic, Hinsdale Lighting, Hinsdale, IL, won in the Midwest/Southwest and Elume Distinctive Lighting, Park City, UT, won in the West.

Swarovski Elements created custom-made crystal decor for the gala, including wine charm favors for each guest. Celebrity presenters added even more glamour — and personality — to the sparkling event, including John Gidding, architect and HGTV personality, and Shay Geyer, interior designer, retailer and TV personality.
