Presented by Residential Lighting and the Dallas Market Center, the 2013 Showroom of the Year Awards recognize excellence among lighting showrooms and will be handed out in three dollar-volume categories — revenue under $2 million, revenue under $5 million and revenue over $5 million — as well as specialty categories including merchandising display, community involvement, and new this year, social media. Judges for this year’s competition are:
Writer, international speaker and business coach Barbara Crowhurst is CEO of Retail Makeover, a company that provides retail business coaching sessions, consulting and Web design services for large corporate retailers and independent retail specialty stores. Crowhurst’s most recent endeavor is directing the independent retail movement in Canada, focusing on spotlighting the exploding trend to shop and support local independent retailers.
Rick Segel of Rick Segel & Assoc. is a business development specialist and certified speaking professional. In business for more than 20 years, Segel has written 13 books, including best-selling “Retail Business Kit for Dummies,” and worked with companies like Dunkin’ Donuts, Microsoft, the United States Postal Service and AARP.
Mike Anderson is Vice President of Consumer Insights and Communication at The Center for Sales Strategy. Anderson has presented marketing and consumer trend seminars to thousands of small business owners, marketers and managers across the U.S. and Canada. His many programs include “Cashing In on Consumer Trends,” “Elm Street Economics,” and “The Marketing Mind Small Business Workshops.” Anderson is also the editor and lead contributor to The Marketing Mind Blog, a site that explores emerging consumer trends in a wide variety of business categories.
The judges have chosen ten finalists in each of the three dollar-volume categories and these finalists will be featured in the May issue. Winners will be announced at an opening night reception during the June 2013 Dallas Intl. Lighting Market.
