IMAX Corp. has formed a licensing agreement with designer Nikki Chu. The collection, Nikki Chu Home for IMAX, will include high-quality accent furniture and home accessories. The new products will debut at the Summer 2014 markets.
“We are extremely excited about our newest collaboration," says Rex Yoakley, Vice President of Sales. "Nikki fuses her design talents and extensive industry experience with an obsession for fashion to create an 'affordable luxury lifestyle' collection unique to IMAX.”
Chu's first collection with IMAX rewrites the rules for using metallics. Where many times metallics are used merely an accent, Chu has them take a primary role, accenting with black and white for maximum impact. Metallic shades and finishes are mixed — gold, silver, copper and bronze pieces are featured together in a combination of matte, shiny and even ombré finishes.
The designs are bold yet elegant, with inspiration from vintage ornate silhouettes becoming exaggerated and updated to create modern heirlooms. Details come directly from Chu's passion for high fashion — classic designer quilting techniques, pyramid studs and chain accents to mention a few. When the elements of her collection are combined, they create an edgy, modern statement, but when featured individually or in smaller groupings, the products show remarkable versatility for use in a wide variety of settings.
