Hubbardton Forge’s Cavaletti Collection was honored as the recipient of the 2013 ASFD Pinnacle Award for Design Achievement in the lighting category. This marks the ninth time the company has won the Pinnacle award.
“The design team would like to thank the judges for selecting Hubbardton Forge and to our extended family of dealers and reps who are spreading our message, our story, out to the country every day," says David Kitts, Director of Design for Hubbardton Forge. "It really is a team effort that allows us to bring a truly special product to market."
The Cavaletti lighting collection features a graphic composition of dynamically tapered, forged elements. Its design begins with a piece of square steel barstock. One end is heated in the forge and a taper is drawn from the middle of the piece. The other end is then heated, and before tapering it is turned 90 degrees, creating a dynamic new shape. Once welded, the lamp assembly is washed in a closed-loop bio-remediation system and finished with a state-of-the-art powder-coating process with no VOCs, thus minimizing environmental impacts.
A simple rectangular fabric shade enhances the clean lines of this family, which includes a pendant, table and floor lamps, and an ADA-compliant wall sconce. The Cavaletti Collection is offered in a choice of finishes and shades.
The Pinnacle Awards were created in April 1995 by the American Society of Furniture Designers to promote design quality and encourage the recognition of designers within the retail home furnishings industry.
