GE Lighting Introduces Smart Phone App

Smart phone users can now experiment with different lighting styles without ever changing a bulb, courtesy of a free application, or app, now available from GE Lighting.

The company’s new Mood Cam application allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to snap a picture of an indoor space and change the mood or personality of the room by sliding the Moodometer tool. Mood options include “cozy,” “creative,” “peaceful” and “dramatic.”

The company’s new Mood Cam application allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to snap a picture of an indoor space and change the mood or personality of the room by sliding the Moodometer tool. Mood options include “cozy,” “creative,” “peaceful” and “dramatic.”

Once a mood has been chosen, the app then shows what types of fixtures and bulbs can be used to achieve that particular ambience. Users can also take advantage of the app’s Three-Step Bulb Finder, which helps match the right bulb with the right fixture and then produces a shopping list of bulbs that can be easily viewed at-a-glance or e-mailed.

The app also provides design tips on how to give a room a lighting makeover. Additional how-to advice is available on the company’s “What’s Your Lighting Style?” website (www.whatsyourlightingstyle.com).

The app may be downloaded at no charge from the iTunes store or at www.gemoodcam.com.
