DMC Launches New Blog

Dallas Market Center's new Know It All blog

The Dallas Market Center (DMC) has launched its first blog, titled “Know It All,” as a resource for retail tips, trend information and expert advice.

According to DMC’s Director of Public Relations Meredith Hite, the intent of the blog is to create an online community where DMC can share useful information year-round.

“Three years ago, we launched our Twitter account, and as the world of social media kept growing and growing, we got on board with Facebook,” Hite says. “We’ve been so impressed with the response from our audiences, so the next logical step was to have a blog.”

Blog entries will be written by DMC employees from all departments, along with guest posts from industry experts, fashion and product designers and seminar speakers.

“The beauty of the blog is we’re going to have different contributors,” Hite says. “For example, we could have someone from our graphic design team come in and write about what goes into a great logo or talk to our sales team about what first-time exhibitors need to know. We’re going to be covering a variety of things.”

Hite also says she envisions the blog being a good way to share material from educational market seminars with people who couldn’t attend.

Starting this month, DMC will also be using the blog to feature “Five Finds of the Week,” or five exhibitors coming to the FINDS Dallas Temp Show in June. Also, at June’s Dallas Intl. Lighting Market, Hite says DMC will use the blog in conjunction with a new educational opportunity for showrooms and exhibitors to share tips on lighting technology.

Hite says the most important aspect of the blog is that it not be just another corporate blog.

“I think that what was really important to us is to have the blog be fun and fresh,” Hite says. “Sometimes company blogs don’t really feel that way, but I think our team really came together to make a fun platform.”
