The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) recently honored Seaside Home, a home furnishings retailer with several stores in Southern California, with its 2008 Design Excellence Award for Best Retail Design.
The award, given to Seaside’s new boutique in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, recognizes the tireless work of owner Sheryll Jackman, a design veteran with 25 years of experience in the building and design community. Jackman also served as President of the San Diego chapter of ASID and was a past instructor at the Design Institute of San Diego.
Jackman’s 4,400-square-foot Rancho Santa Fe store, which opened in 2007, derives its inspiration from two existing Seaside Home outlets in La Jolla and Coronado. After a complete gut rehab, Jackman designed the new interior around informal areas for room settings, creating a natural path for customers visiting the store. This is not Jackman’s first accolade from ASID; the organization recognized her in 2006 for Seaside Home’s La Jolla, CA store.
