ALA Announces Lighting Makeover Winners

The American Lighting Assn. (ALA) recently revealed the winners of $10,000 in prizes for the 2010 Home Lighting Makeover Sweepstakes. Four winners were selected by random drawing from nearly 28,000 entries.

Larry Lauck, Vice President of Communications for ALA, says the contest, which had previously been done in 2004 and 2005 with a single $10,000 makeover winner each time, was very successful.

“Sales leads were up 71 percent this year, and Clark Communications found that the sales leads that came out of the entries had a much higher click-through rate than any other showroom marketing,” Lauck says.

The grand prize winner of the $5,000 lighting makeover was Elisa Marra, who entered at Bright Light Design Center, in Cape May Court House, NJ.

“She was one of my customers, and she came in and bought a mirror and some sconces and filled out the form,” says Jennifer Roemhild, Branch Coordinator and Lighting Designer for Bright Light Design Center. “It was great to get to get to tell her she’s won, and she was ecstatic. She said she’s never won anything before, and she can’t wait to get started.”

David Bellwoar, Division Vice President for Bright Light Design Centers, says the designers at the showroom are excited to begin as well.

“We’re going to get together with her to talk about what kind of project she has in mind, and than make recommendations on what would get her the most for her value,” Bellwoar says.

The sweepstakes ran April through September and entries were taken in ALA-member showrooms or through the ALA website.
