Chicago-based Radionic Hi-Tech Inc. is the latest manufacturer to adopt the Lighting Facts label, and the first to use it to label under-cabinet LED fixtures.
Similar to the uniform Nutrition Facts label required for packaged foods, Lighting Facts label was introduced by Solid-State Lighting Quality Advocates to help consumers understand and compare LED products. A program of the U.S. Department of Energy, the labels provide a quick summary of the lumens, watts, lumens per watt, correlated color temperature and color rendering index, giving a snapshot of a product’s performance. Independent lab tests validate the information.
“We are pleased to be doing our part in communicating honest information to American consumers about LED products and hope additional manufacturers will join us in our commitment to making the transition toward more sustainable forms of lighting, easy and affordable for average Americans,” stated Radionic CEO Jeffrey Winton in a company press release.
