  • Don McEvoy to Receive ARTS Academy of Achievement Award

    November 16, 2009

The Dallas Market Center (DMC). and the Accessories Resource Team (ART). a trade association representing the decorative accessory industry, recently announced that Don McEvoy will receive the prestigious Academy of Achievement Award at the 21st annual ARTS Awards.

The Academy of Achievement honor is awarded to an individual who has made significant contributions to the decorative accessories industry.

Don McEvoy began as a sales representative in 1964, quickly building a successful showroom in the Dallas World Trade Center. Although the showroom does not represent any lines that are exclusively lighting, three lines do feature lighting products: Dessau Home, Zodax and Vagabond Vintage.

“For more than 45 years, Don McEvoy has worked tirelessly to incubate new companies and to help retailers thrive,” says Bill Winsor, President and CEO, Dallas Market Center. “We honor his innovation and his leadership. He remains a vital partner in the success of countless businesses. The home décor industry has no better friend and advocate than Don.”

By consistently adapting his business model to remain competitive, through product development, new sales channels and a diverse product mix, McEvoy has enjoyed sustained success and remained ahead of the game.

In its rich history – encompassing more than 250 markets and trade events – McEvoy has launched hundreds of exciting new products and earned the loyalty of retailers and employees alike.

The award is presented each year at the ARTS Awards gala event during the January Dallas Total Home & Gift and International Lighting markets. This year's ARTS event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 16, in the Grand Pavilion of the Trade Mart. The ARTS Awards also encompass more than 20 category winners, including Manufacturer awards for Fixtures and Portable Lamps, and Lighting Showroom honors for three regional winners. Residential Lighting is a proud sponsor of the ARTS Awards.
