In an effort to streamline energy efficiency requirements and clearly define expectations, the joint Consortium for Energy Efficiency’s (CEE) Commercial and Residential Solid-State Lighting (SSL) Committee has issued a position paper defining the information that energy efficiency programs need from manufacturers to evaluate SSL products for possible inclusion in programs.
Given the rapid rate by which manufacturers have been introducing LEDs in more general lighting applications, and concerns that some LED products do not live up to manufacturers’ claims, the CEE set out to create recommended guidelines that clearly define the information needed to evaluate LED products.
CEE members, representing the efficiency programs of the United States and Canada, plan to use the product information and test data detailed in the Recommended Guidelines and Position Paper to determine the efficacy and quality of SSL products they will consider promoting.
