Over 600 people were on hand Saturday night to honor the winners of the 22nd annual ARTS Awards, including two new categories – Green Manufacturer and Sales Representative for National/Key Accounts. The awards were sponsored by the Accessories Resource Team (ART) and the Dallas Market Center.

New this year was the Green Manufacturer category, which went to Hubbardton Forge for their environmentally friendly business practices. The new category was judged in part by the Sustainable Furnishings Council.

In the lighting categories, Corbett Lighting took home the award for Lighting Fixtures, while Arteriors Home won for Portable Lamps. In the Lighting Showroom category, LUMEN Lamps of Nashville, TN, won for the East/Atlantic region, Light by Design of San Antonio, TX, won for the Midwest/Southwest, and Kilohana Lighting Inc. of Lihue, HI, won in the West. Design Lighting of Surrey, BC also won for International Retail Store.

This year’s Academy of Achievement Award went to HGTV, marking the first time the award has been given to an organization instead of an individual. HGTV Designer Sabrina Soto and Senior Vice President of Program Development and Production Freddy James accepted the award on behalf of HGTV.

During their acceptance speech, James addressed the audience, saying the he and Soto felt very at home among the crowd of designers, manufacturers and showroom owners.

"We fit in well in this room because there's a common philosophy," James said. "We are all about the home and helping people reimagine their space – helping people renovate, helping people buy a home or sell a home, and all of those things that seem very physical in nature. But in reality, even though we're tranforming people's homes, what we're really doing is transforming people's lives, and I'm so grateful that we share that philosophy."
